Event Details

Vigyan Ashram, in partnership with Rural Development Institute, is hosting a 11 days wind energy training program in which the participant will contribute in constructing a wind turbine. The wind turbine is a 4.2m, 2.7 kW turbine that runs a 3hp/3phase/440V submersible pump. This design is quite unique because it can be made at a low cost for rural areas, plus it can be also used for battery charging.  This uses an off-the-shelf pump that is already connected to the grid as an alternative to wind/solar energy, and therefore making it reliable and low cost.

During the training the following subjects will be covered:

  • ·         Aerodynamics,
  • ·         Electrical generator design
  • ·         Workshop skills such as welding, carpentry, mould making, etc.
  • ·         Electronics and electrical engineering
  • ·         Mechanical assembly, balancing of equipment, governing of equipment    (turbine governing system called furling)
  • ·         Integration of wind/solar hybrid systems
  • ·         Sizing of renewable energy equipment, tower construction and erection, commissioning of system.

Duration :11 days (16th july to 26th july 2016)

Timing : 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM

Who can attend : Youth (12th std above), Diploma / degree engineers / Maker

Methodology : Hands on workshop to build 2 wind turbines
